DOSAGE

What is the correct dose?
Improver and AntiFungal are added in small quantities to the birds’ drinking water. 0.5 grams per litre of water is sufficient (0.05 % by weight). As Figure 1 shows, this is sufficient to ensure that all disease-promoting crop, stomach and intestinal bacteria are killed, while the healthy, natural bacterial flora is unaffected.

0.05% by weight of Improver and AntiFungal in water is equivalent to a teaspoon (3 g) in a 6-litre drinking container. Each tin of Improver and AntiFungal come with a measuring spoon, and one level spoonful equals 2.5 grams, which is the correct dose for 5 litres of water.

Dosage and use of Improver and AntiFungal

Improver and AntiFungal are a solid powder for administration in the pigeon’s drinking water. It has been scientifically designed for racing pigeon as a natural way of protecting against pathogenic bacteria. It is important to use the correct dose, which should be equivalent to a concentration of 0.05% by weight of Improver and AntiFungal, or 0.5 gram per liter of water. One heaped level spoonful, using the measuring spoon delivered with the tin, corresponds to 2.5-3.0 grams, and is added to 5 liters of water. Due to solubility: Add the water to Improver and AntiFungal, and not vice versa!

Improver and AntiFungal can be for the breeding stock as well as to the racing stock and the young birds two-three days a week (or daily by adding a 1/3 measure level to 5 liters of water). In periods of stress, as e.g. weaning of youngsters, on sign of young bird disease (Adenovirus Type 1) or in the moulting period, increase doses to one heaped measure spoon every day until sign of disease disappear.

In the racing season (both adult pigeons and youngsters) the best results have been achieved by adding Improver and AntiFungal to the drinking water on the day of return (to protect against spread of bacterial infections), and then the two succeeding days (to aid the intestinal bacterial micro flora to rapidly maintain its natural condition and aid the digestion system). See guidelines on next page.
In some cases, pigeons have been observed to drink slightly less water when Improver and AntiFungal are added to their drinking water. This is mainly because their droppings become less watery, and thus their water needs are reduced.
Improver and AntiFungal may be mixed to multivitamins and/or electrolytes in the drinking water. We generally do not recommend mixing medicines and Improver and AntiFungal. The pigeons may also bathe in water with Improver and AntiFungal added (about 2 measuring spoons to 10 liters of water) from time to time, to treat for feather bugs and possible pathogenic bacteria

Storage and durability

Improver and AntiFungal should be stored in a dry place. Expiry date is unlimited if stored dry. If it comes into contact with moist air, it will absorb water in the same way as ordinary table salt and, like salt, will get rather sticky. However, the efficacy of the active substance will not be affected. Improver and AntiFungal is now delivered in tins as a strongly concentrated powder. If this gets into the eyes, they should be rinsed thoroughly with water. Improver and AntiFungal is coated with 1% percent natural organic fatty acids (healthy to heart and blood stream) and contain roughly 1% solid inorganic carrier (carbonates) to reduce water uptake when stored. As these coating and carrier materials are less soluble in cold water, these may be observed as white in-solubles at the water surface or at the bottom of the drinking towel (without causing any harm). The red-yellow colour is due to selected B-vitamines.

After an antibiotics course

After antibiotics treatment, virtually all the bacteria have been killed, including the ”good”, protective lactic acid bacteria. Following a course of this type, pigeons are therefore very vulnerable to new diseases.
After an antibiotics course, it is therefore highly recommended to add Improver and AntiFungal in the birds’ drinking water (0.05%), along with multivitamins, brewer yeast (vitamin B supplement) and natural yoghurt (which contains natural lactic acid bacteria). This will help the pigeons rapidly regain their form after antibiotics treatment.
